True Life in God

For over 20 years a Greek housewife called Vassula Ryden has received a number of sayings and visions as if from Jesus Christ. These sayings have been accepted as from God by many Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Anglican and Evangelical Christians and can be read at www.tlig.org.

In the letter to the Ephesians we read that the church is built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus the cornerstone (2v20).

Just as the church needs apostles and their successors the bishops  to secure Christ's teaching is handed down to every generation she needs her prophets to wake her up to his possibilities in every age.

True Life in God is a prophetic movement faithful to God's call to bring the church to live the apostolic teaching she has received. The title reflects the biblical calling to live in the Trinity as children of the Father, redeemed in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Vassula Ryden's messages have brought many outside Christianity to find Christ in the scriptures and the eucharist. They are controversial since they challenge lack of love and humility among Christian leaders - but the calling of a prophet is to discomfort the comfortable!

John Twisleton is one of thousands who have responded to God’s call through Vassula and joined in the 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011 True Life in God pilgrimages representing Chichester Diocese. He is struck by the timeliness of the ecumenical vision God gives through TLIG for a church united in apostolic teaching to better serve world evangelisation.
